My name is Matthew Vincent and I am currently 24 years old. I was raised in Sheridan, IN and am the only son of four children. I graduated from Marshall University in 2006 with a degree in Religious Studies and a double minor in English Literature and Japanese. After graduating from Marshall I came on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ and was assigned to serve at UNC-Wilmington. I have been here for about half a year and have really enjoyed the ministry here.
I became a follower of Christ when I was about 16, and it has been one of the most important decisions I have ever made in my life. To know that your life has a purpose, not just here on earth, but for all eternity, is one of the most assuring things we can ever come to possess. It still continues to blow my mind that the God that created the universe exists, and that it would please Him to consider me a son and allow me to be a co-heir with His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Since becoming a follower of Christ, I have decided to use the gifts and abilities God has endowed me with to serve Him, primarily in the area of vocational ministry. I can see no greater purpose in life than to use all of one’s time, talents, abilities, and gifts to glorify God in whatever way best serves Him. I would encourage you, if you do not consider yourself to be a follower of Christ, to seriously consider the opportunity that stands before you every day to enter into an intimate, life-transforming relationship with the God of the universe. As best as you are able, examine the claims of scripture and test their trustworthiness. I hope that what you find there would be the same that millions before you have found and claimed as their hope and purpose in life. If you do profess to follow Christ, then I would encourage you to not only proclaim this allegiance through the words of your mouth, but also through a life transformed; a life that progressively resembles the one our brother Jesus lived during his sojourn here on earth. As Paul said during his journey, “in view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1 NIV). I readily admit my own shortcomings in the pursuit of this goal, but what matters is not your perfection of this goal, but your perfectibility in the journey towards Christ-likeness.
The goal of this website will be to give an honest account of my time as a follower of Christ, a series of ups and downs, obedience and disobedience, until my God calls me into eternity…
