If you had a cure for a life-threatening disease, would you keep it to yourself? Wouldn’t you be obligated to offer it to every person that suffered from it? The world has an epidemic: the consequences of their sin. We, as children of God, have been vaccinated and carry within us the means of curing others, the blood of Jesus Christ. When I talk with someone who is terminally ill with sin, I provide an opportunity for the cure, Jesus within me as the Holy Spirit, to cure them as well. We all acknowledge that without the divine intervention of the Holy Spirit no man can come to accept Christ, but has it ever occurred to us that the Holy Spirit that does that work resides within us and that by being vessels of the Holy Spirit we are, in essence, the vials for the vaccine? There can be no vaccination without the vaccine, and the vaccine needs to be carried in vials to where the epidemic is. How can a person be cured without the vaccine around, and how can the vaccine get there without the vial to carry it?
Or in the words of Paul: ‘How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”‘ -Romans 10:14-15
